A popular video converter, HandBrake, for Mac systems was hacked by replacing the app on one of the download servers with a malicious copy. So the attackers could gain admin privileges on victims’ systems.

It appears the attackers compromised the publishing infrastructure. Since no code-signing was involved, the attacker didn’t require to compromise any key, but rather just the infrastructure.
